How To: Papermaking Workshop

Immerse in the ancient art of papermaking.

Sticking to the traditional method dating to the Han Dynasty, you'd be able to learn what goes into every piece of paper and how to jazz it up with colours, additional materials and your own watermark.

This workshop is suitable for parent & child.

All our workshops are by appointment only.

The use of printmaking tools and materials are included in the fee.


The Curriculum

Duration: 2.5 to 3 Hours

  1. Learn to prepare paper pulp.

  2. Learn to sieve paper pulp using a mould and deck.

  3. Learn to dry the paper pulp and transform into a piece of paper.

  4. Learn to make a watermark on paper.

  5. Learn to add colours and other materials to complement the handmade paper designs.

Participants will be able to bring home their handmade paper sheets.

Take Note

  • Due to limited studio space, we could only fit maximum of 6 participants. ( 3 pairs if parent & child)

  • Please take note of your dressing, try not to wear your favourite or best, just in case you might get ink stains.

  • Please be punctual, and observe hygiene practices.

  • You are allowed to bring in your snacks and drinks.

  • The duration of the workshop may be shortened or extended depending on the participant’s process.

Parent/Guardian Advisory

  • This workshop is suitable for children age 6 onwards.

  • The only hazard equipment is the hot iron which is used for drying the paper.

  • We do not operate as a drop-off workshop, we strongly encourage having at least 1 parent or guardian supervise your child/children.
